A few years ago I won a decent amount of money from a competition. It wasn't enough to become rich, but it was enough to change my financial situation.
I only told my parents. Everyone else still believes I managed to save every cent through hard work alone.
The reason I keep quiet is because I've seen how people treat those who suddenly come into money. Relationships change, expectations grow and everyone seems to need help.
Sometimes I feel guilty for hiding it, but life has been much more peaceful this way.
